Aftercare

Tegaderm eliminates the struggles of the healing process. No ointment or daily washing is needed. Leave Tegaderm on for 4 days (the day it’s put on being day 1).. You can shower with the Tegaderm on within the 4 days, just be careful to not peel the edges and corners of the wrap. The tattoo will bleed and seep a little bit of excess ink during the 4 days...This is totally normal and nothing to be concerned with. On the 4th morning carefully take the Tegaderm off in the shower, wash the tattoo with soap and water and the palm of your hand thoroughly,(do not use a washcloth)! If you use bar soap, rub the bar into your hand and then you’re hand onto the tattoo, DO NOT rub the bar directly onto the tattoo. The tattoo will peel and flake within the next 2 days after taking off the Tegaderm. DO NOT pick or scratch at the tattoo while its peeling. Lotion or coco butter is perfect at this point. Do not cake it on, just rub it in like normal lotion. (Aquafor and petroleum based ointments would be great if you didn’t have Tegaderm, but by the time you take the wrap off, those ointments are too thick.) Your tattoo will be fully healed in the next 2 weeks, again in this time no more actions are required but may use lotion if desired. Enjoy your new tattoo!

However if the Tegaderm peels up or somehow comes off or if dirt, moisture, lint etc. can get under the Tegaderm wrap due to a peeled up corner (example), then take the Tegaderm off like explained above and wash like explained above and contact the artist immediately for further instruction or to schedule to stop up to the shop for another one to be put on. If you have any other questions or concerns contact artist or shop and we will gladly help you!
